Medieval Aquitaine

The inland part of the Aquitaine region is a lesser known part of the whole France. This land hides towns that are a true jewel for history lovers.

Such places as Sauveterre, Salies-de-Béarn, Orthez and Navarrenx were witnesses to historical times, when the Lords of Aquitaine were competing for the throne of France. These lands became a stage for the battles of the Huguenots and the Catholics and the people of this place saw the rise of the royal dynasty of Bourbons.

These calm towns retain the charm of past times. It is a great place to discover their stone-covered streets and old houses together with all the legends that live on here.
